Well, I might as well. Which is why I am here doing the thing.

Just added a couple old posts that were once relevant to my experiences. Though those times have seemingly passed and the playing field is much different now. For one, I use tmux more than screen (I mostly run tmux with a stack of windows with my ssh sessions out to other places where I will run screen if needed – since nesting tmux is a little strange, but combining the two isn’t a big deal for me).

The shares post… well… windows shares are still seemingly magic to mount. Once they are up, they’re up. But sometimes maybe they are not going to cooperate and yet I’ll check again and hey, look, no errors its mounted and working. I think some of the cooperating came along with newer versions of windows and centos though, as the original post was with winxp and centos 5.5 or so.

Anyhow, with any luck I’ll keep poking in here from time to time to share notes on problems I’ve run into and the solutions I’ve come up with. The past several months have had me involved in some interesting monitoring work and testing environments. Things like ELK (elasticsearch, logstash, kibana), some testing with sensu, fun with smokeping, pfsense, asterisk, apparently firing up wordpress in a few places and plans with modsecurity 2 and owasp, and seemingly getting myself into relearning programming and math in an academic endeavor.
